Town gets new councillors after by-election

Three new members have been elected to New Romney town council following a by-election.

Three vacant seats on the council were contested by five candidates.

With 1,308 votes cast and on a turnout of 19.4 per cent, the results were as follows:

Elaine Gould, 319

Alma Walsh, 307

Matthew "Terry" Walsh, 297

David Bryan Stephenson, 219

Clive Goddard, 166

This means Elaine Gould, Alma Walsh and Terry Walsh now take up seats on the town council.
