Two arrests after jewellers robbery

Two 15-year-olds have been arrested after an armed robbery at a jewellers in Longfield.

The police helicopter, firearms officers and police dogs were all scrambled after the raid at around 5.15pm at family-run Bourne and Kemp jewellers in Station Road.

When police arrived at the shop the two young men ran off.

Inspector Guy Burrows said: "The jewellery shop staff received minor injuries but nothing was stolen during the incident.

"An investigation is currently under way, but in the meantime police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything that might help in the investigation.

"I would also like to thank the members of the public who contacted police with information."

Shop owner Robert Bourne said the raid was the second in a matter of weeks at the store.

He called for CCTV to be installed to give added security to stores.
