Two people were seriously injured after an Ariel Atom car crashed in to a tree.

The stripped-down motor was made famous on Top Gear when Jeremy Clarkson drove one while having his mouth open, completely changing the shape of his face.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the accident in which the driver and passenger were badly injured and taken to hospital.

It involved a black Ariel Atom which was travelling south on Childsbridge Lane, Kemsing, Sevenoaks at about 3.20pm on Saturday.

It is believed the car left the road and collided with a tree.

Both the driver, a male in his 40s and the passenger, a male in his 20s were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
