Darren Stevens (pictured) and Alex Blake’s unbeaten fifth-wicket stand of 73 eased Kent Spitfires home to a comfortable six-wicket win and record a swift Clydesdale Bank 40 double over Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road on Monday.

Matt Coles (3-27) bowled well again as the Foxes made 182, recovering from 81-5.

Chasing a modest 183 for victory, Kent’ s reply stuttered after a good start with skipper Rob Key and Joe Denly putting on 86 for the first wicket.

Denly (40) was bowled by James Benning, who then bowled Martin van Jaarsveld for a second ball duck.

Key (45) went to Matthew Hoggard in the next over leaving Kent 90-3 and, when Geraint Jones (11) was fourth out at 112, the Spitfires still needed 71 off 20 overs.

Stevens (42 not out), playing against his old club, and Blake (41 not out) started slowly, but stayed together to score at around a run-a-ball to see the Spitfires home.
