A deer has been killed after it was hit by a car.

One vehicle collided with a fence after swerving to avoid the deer as it crossed the A26 at Teston’s notorious South Lodge Bend, at around 10.15pm on Monday.

A Peugeot car travelling behind then collided with the animal, which later died.

No humans were injured.

The road between Barming and Teston was blocked while the deer's body was recovered.
