Youth smashes police car's windscreen

THE windscreen of a police car was smashed while the officers were on foot patrol in Dart Close at Strood.

Two officers had parked their vehicle in the road under a street lamp in view of passers-by and children playing. But when they returned they found the windscreen had been broken.

A witness saw a red Renault Clio draw up beside the police car. A teenager was seen jumping out of the car, stepping onto the bonnet, and smashing the windscreen with his foot.

The teenager then got back into the Clio and drove off. The incident happened on Wednesday.

Medway Police are appealing for witnesses and would ask anyone with information to contact PC Mick O'Meara on 01634 827055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
