Sheffield Utd v Charlton

CHARLTON manager Alan Pardew threw down the gauntlet to his players ahead of Saturday's match at Sheffield United by challenging them to match and emulate the West Ham side he lead to promotion to the Premier League.

He insisted: "The team I have at Charlton is as good as that West Ham side. The difference is that West Ham proved it and this team haven't.

"This team has the technical ability, has the spirit and the fight. When you're going for promotion, you need that bit of luck.

"It's so tight in the Championship this season that you need a break like a referee's decision to go your way at a crucial time.

"So many teams have a chance of automatic promotion, let alone play-offs. There has not been a dominant team."

Left-back Kelly Youga is certain to return from a one-match suspension to replace Grant Basey at Bramall Lane.
