Manchester City v Charlton Athletic

ALAN PARDEW believes Charlton are now in control of their own destiny in the fight for Premiership survival.

The 1-0 win over Wigan moved the club to within a point of safety after being written off at Christmas.

The Addicks visit 13th placed Manchester City on Friday with manager Pardew insisting: "We are now in control of our own destiny. We’ll take that with seven games to go. I didn't expect it but all credit to the players, they've turned the tables on our form.

"There is a good feeling, not only in the dressing room but in the stands as well."

But he warned: "It's no good getting in touch and then falling away again. The real work is still to be done."

Pardew is hoping defender Ben Thatcher, who missed the Wigan clash after a recurrence of a knee injury, will be fit to face his former club on Friday.

Kick-off is at 5.15pm before the Addicks return to The Valley on East Monday when Pardew's former club Reading are the visitors.
