Luke Young has been offered a new deal at Charlton

CHARLTON have dismissed reports that club captain Luke Young is set to join Premiership rivals West Ham.

A number of national newspapers claimed over the weekend that the clubs had agreed a deal for the 26-year-old right-back, but the Addicks insist the player is still at The Valley.

New manager Iain Dowie is thought to be keen to keep Young, who has made seven appearances for England.

At the start of last month Charlton plc chairman Richard Murray said the club had offered Young a new contract.

He said: "Luke is a key member of our squad and we have offered him a lucrative new deal."
