KENT'S June Banks was narrowly beaten in the final of the women’s South Coast Classic final at Eastbourne.

The world number three, from Orpington, lost 3-2 to Portsmouth’s Emma Bonney having earlier seen off WLBSA East Anglian champion Katie Henrick, from Bickley, by the same score in the semi-finals.

Thirty-eight-year-old former England international Banks chalked up breaks of 58 and 32 in wins over Gaye Jones and Chris Sharpe on her way to the final.
