Browning finally leaves Priestfield

MIDFIELDER Marcus Browning has finally left Gillingham on learning that he will not be offered a new contract.

Browning was told the position at a meeting with club chairman Paul Scally. His contract officially ends this week as does that of fellow midfielder Mark Saunders whose Priestfield future remains in the melting pot.

Browning is expected to have talks on Friday with Division 3 Bournemouth who have done an abrupt about-turn and declared they were interested in the player having earlier dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Dean Court.

Saunders is still locked in talks with the club about a new deal.

Gillingham are also expected to announce the release of former midfielder Neil Smith who has been training with the club following his release by Reading.
