Club's athletes grab medals galore indoors

MEDWAY & Maidstone AC male athletes took the lion’s share of the medals at the Kent Indoor athletics championships at Sutton Arena.

The jumpers took centre stage with under-20 Stuart Hitchcock taking both the long jump (6.90m) and triple jump (13.94m) titles.

Darren March won the under-17 triple jump with 13.92m. James Alcock has stepped up to the under-17s this year but he still took the gold with 6.01m in the long jump.

He passed his last two jumps as he was competing in the final of the 60m where he recorded a personal best of 8.47sec and gained the bronze medal.

Martin Brockman won the senior men’s high jump with 1.90m and the pole vault with 3.60m.

Alex Wharf, who has also joined the under-17s this season, won the 60m hurdles with a pb of 8.65 and he also took the pole vault title with 2.60m.

Michael Baker, now competing with the under-20s, was second in the 60m hurdles with 8.52.
