Cup trip to Grimsby for Addicks

CHARLTON have been drawn away to Coca-Cola League Two club Grimsby in the second round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday, September 21 (7.45pm).

The Mariners, under the new management of ex-Scarborough boss Russell Slade, produced one of the shocks of the first round by tipping out Division 1 leaders Wigan 1-0.

The last time the Addicks played at Blundell Park was in March 2000 when they won 4-0 en route to the Division 1 title. Last season they bowed out of the Carling Cup after losing 1-0 to Everton.

Manager Alan Curbishley has already stated that he wants a big improvement in the club's disappointing cup form of recent seasons.
