Cut hand may delay Sodje comeback

Watford v Charlton

SAM SODJE'S return for Charlton at Watford on Saturday, following suspension, has been put in doubt by a badly cut hand sustained in a household accident.

The central defender, dismissed for serious foul play at Norwich on Boxing Day, had a three-match ban increased by one as he had already been sent off playing for Reading in the Carling Cup earlier in the season.

Manager Alan Pardew explained: "Sam had an accident handling a plate glass window at home and sustained a badly cut hand. It's heavily bandaged and I would rate him as being extremely doubtful for the Watford game."

Pardew regards Saturday's visit to the former leaders as another milestone in Charlton's season as they look to break into the automatic promotion positions.

He said: "Once we play Watford, we will have played all the top six away from home – and they've all got to come to The Valley. So we're not in too bad a position if we can maintain Saturday's form against Blackpool."

Saturday's match at Vicarage Road kicks off at 5.20pm.
