Dynamos coach bullish ahead of play-offs

PARRISH: "We are the strongest team in our section"

Peterborough Islanders v Invicta Dynamos

HEAD coach Kevin Parrish is in confident mood ahead of Invicta Dynamos' opening play-off game at the Peterborough Islanders on Saturday.

National League South A champions Peterborough are the only undefeated team in all national league competitions but Parrish is unconcerned.

"We are the strongest team in our section," said Parrish of the group that also contains Cardiff and South B rivals Streatham.

"We need to mentally prepare for Saturday's game and then once we hit the ice, we will look to pressurise Peterborough straight away.

"If we can put pressure on them and break them down quickly, then there will be a chance for us to put the game beyond their reach in the first period."

Streatham are Invicta's first home opponents in the post-season on Sunday and Parrish is looking forward to settling a few scores.

He said: "They always have an excuse when they don't get a result against us. Last week they gave us all they had and we still came away with a draw, despite having played the night before.

"We are told that we try and bully their imports, that we get away with being overly physical."

A big advantage for Parrish will be having a fully-fit squad to choose from, as long as Tomas Hentek gets a clean bill of health from Gillingham FC physio Paul Smith.

Parrish added: "We will assess Tomas' situation. If he's not 100 per cent fit, then we won't risk him."

Parrish has also confirmed veteran keeper Ian Rowlands will begin the play-offs as his starter after the Dynamos No.31 shared the duties with youngster Glen Jackson through the regular season.
