INVICTA Dynamos completed a 100 per cent ENHL Play-Off campaign with a comfortable 7-1 win against Streatham Redskins.

With Invicta already assured of topping the play-off group, the match lacked the usual intensity, not helped when the Mos put the result beyond doubt with four first period goals.

Andy Smith scored two in the space of 5.04, either side of a powerplay goal from Peter Beerling, Smith providing the second assist for the defenseman’s one-timer.

James Lake made it 4-0 43 seconds from the buzzer with a shot from the blue line that James Tanner should have handled.

Streatham came out fast in the second, Wayne Trunchion’s shot stopping in the crease after Ian Rowlands got a glove on it and Steve Paris blazing over from close range.

Mos then withdrew Rowlands to allow 15-year-old Jonathon Silverster 30 minutes of ice time, and he showed his continued improvement with some fine saves.

Peter Carey and Matthew Drake extended the lead to 6-0, Streatham scoring a powerplay consolation at 44.24.

Stuart Low added a shorthanded goal to his four assists at 53.32 but man of the match went to 17-year-old James Fraser. His speed and skill makes up for a lack of size, and the reaction of his senior team mates shows how highly they rate him.

Mos coach Kev Parrish said: "You can see the kid’s got confidence on the puck and great awareness, which he needs because of his size. He doesn’t get hit much."

Invicta now have a break before the first game of a two-legged ENHL Cup Final, likely to be against Sheffield Scimitars, on May 15 and the two-legged Play-Off final, also against Sheffield.

The Scimitars have dominated the North section in the same manner as Invicta have in the South and Parrish is looking forward to the games after an 8-5 aggregate loss in last season’s play-off final.

Parrish explaiend: "Last year we had a five-week break because of their fixtures so they came into the games fresher, but this time we’ll be training as usual. We’ve strengthened the squad and have a few more goalscorers this year, which was an area we struggled with last time.

"I’ve got some tapes of Sheffield so we’ll sit down next week and look at their style and see how to counter it. It should be a really good four game series."

Remaining fixtures: May 15 (h) and May 21 (a) vs Sheffield/Oxford ENHL Cup final. May 22 (a) and May 29 (h) vs Sheffield ENHL Play-Off final.
