Gillingham have agreed a two-month loan deal for Preston North End midfielder John Mousinho.

The 27-year-old former Deepdale skipper previously played under Gills interim boss Peter Taylor during his time in charge at Wycombe Wanderers.

London-born Mousinho - who qualifies to play for Portugal through his father's family - was handed his first professional deal at Brentford in 2005 by then Bees boss, and future Gills manager Martin Allen.

In 2006/07 he played more than an hour in goal against Gillingham in a 2-2 draw at Griffin Park after keeper Clark Masters was sent-off early on.

Mousinho joined Wycombe in 2008, helping them clinch promotion to League 1 in his first season, before joining Stevenage in 2010.

He was Borough's top-scorer from midfield with eight goals in 44 games in his first campaign before following boss Graham Westley to Deepdale in May 2012.

He has however fallen out of favour and was an unused sub when the two teams met at Priestfield last month, a game which the Lilywhites won 2-1.

Mousinho - who has more than 220 career appearances to his name - is eligible for Gills' FA Cup first round clash with Brackley Town at Priestfield on Saturday.
