GILLINGHAM have struck a deal with Reading to keep defender Adam Bygrave on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old has impressed at Priestfield, making nine appearances since joining from the Premiership club.

Gills boss Mark Stimson said the agreement was good for the club and player.

"He is a popular member of the first team squad and is a promising young defender, who will certainly get better," he said.

"This deal is proof that Reading can see that we are a club that can nurture and develop young players and give them the proper experience to hold them in good stead when they return.

"Adam is one for the future and, with more first team games with us, I am sure that when he returns to Reading, he will be all the better for it."
