Gills 'second fiddle' keeper frustrated

BROWN: hoping for another chance in first team
BROWN: hoping for another chance in first team

GILLINGHAM goalkeeper Jason Brown has admitted that he doesn’t know where his future lies.

Brown, whose transfer request at the beginning of the month was turned down, has been playing second fiddle to Steve Banks towards the end of last season and the start of this.

And he admitted he was frustrated at his lack of opportunities and not being allowed to go out on loan.

He said: “It’s been frustrating. I was out for such a long time - five-and-a-half months - I was working hard all over the summer to come back and hopefully get a chance. But it hasn’t come my way as yet.

“To be fair, Banksy’s come in and done well, so all I can do is work hard in training, do well for the reserves and hopefully I’ll get a chance.”

When asked about his future, he added: “It’s difficult, I speak to my advisors all the time. “I would like to say maybe I’ve got a future here but you never know.

“I asked to go out on loan because I thought it would benefit me and the club if I came back and I was flying. I’m happy with the way I’m playing now but they won’t let me go on loan which is a bit frustrating. So I’m having to just come in everyday and work as hard as I can.”
