Kent edge toward victory at The Nevill

KENT need to winkle out four more Lancashire wickets to inflict a first defeat of the season on Lancashire.

The red rose county go into the final day of this Frizzell Championship match on 316 for six - a slender overall lead of eight.

At one stage Kent looked set for victory in three days, but a stubborn sixth wicket stand took the game into its final day

It took the second superb catch of the day from Andrew Symonds to break the partnership and send back Steven Crook.

The Queenslander dived to the left off his own bowling to take a two-handed chance from Crook that ended a sixth wicket stand worth 153 in 34 overs.

Crook had contributed 68 to the partnership with Glen Chapple (77 not out), batting through to stumps in tandem with Warren Hegg (20).
