No play at Edgbaston leaves Kent frustrated

THE opening day of Kent's vital LV Championship match with warwickshire in Edgbaston on Tuesday was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy overnight rain coupled with a severe weather warning for more to come left umpires Allan Jones and Graham Burgess with no option but to call off all hopes at 1.30pm.

The squads will re-assemble here on Wednesday, but again the forecast for play remains poor.

With injuries to Darren Stevens and Simon Cook, Kent are set to name the following squad: Key, Denly, van Jaarsveld, Walker, Dexter, Jones, Tredwell, McLaren, Arafat, Saggers, Malinga. 12th man: Sam Northeast.
