Noad sets a rapid pace

BEN NOAD of Highgate Harriers led 20 athletes under the hour on the super fast course used for the Sidcup 10 mile road race.

Noad, who represented Britain in the World Cross Country in Mombasa last year, was the only athlete to duck under the 50 minute barrier with a personal best return of 49 minutes 58 seconds to head the UK rankings for 2008.

Andy Rayner (50.17) of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers and James Connor (50.45) of the host club Kent AC were drawn to personal best times to fill the remaining podium positions.

Michelle Flaxton (65.25) of Dartford Road Runners won the women’s category from Clare Reeves (67.22) of Bexley AC and Sally Musson (W45, 67.49) of Tonbridge AC was third overall.
