THE WONDERBEES: A triumphant Kent Under 13 girls squad

KENT'S U13 girls hit opponents for six at the annual national cricket festival in Malvern.

The U13A and U13B squads each won all their three matches and were the only teams - out of 10 taking part in the three-day event - to claim a 100 per cent record.

The As beat Leinster, Wales and Leicester, while the Bs - known as the Wonderbees - overcame Leicester, Dorset and Buckinghamshire.

The toughest match for the Wonderbees was the opener against Leicester, who raced to 70 without loss before wickets began to tumble.

Rebecca Belt, from Broadstairs (4- 20), and Charlotte Pape, from Nonington (3 - 6) gave Leicester a torrid time and they were all out for 133 in the 25th over.

With five wickets down for just 50, the Bees looked in trouble. But skipper Zoe Sturgess steadied the situation with a solid knock of 17, putting on 31 with Belt before she was leg before. Belt (36no) and Bryony Scott (20no) steered the Bees to victory by three wickets.

In the second game, Kent made 250 for 8 off 29 overs, with Emma Marsh, from Deal, hitting a maiden 50. Dorset pressed hard, but were all out 31 runs short of the target. Pape took four wickets - including a hat-trick - and Emma Waters, from Margate, took two to polish off the Dorset innings.

In their most convincing win, the Wonderbees made 222 for 7 against Bucks in 40 overs, with Pape hitting 57. Amy Rye, from Nonington, plundered 30 off 26 balls, with Mary Wilson, from Stourmouth, (17) and Jemma Conner, from Welling (16 - including a six) making useful contributions.

An inspired Belt then took 5 - 5 in four overs, with Wilson grabbing 4 - 7 to skittle the fancied Bucks for just 43 in 19 overs.

Kent U13B squad: Rebecca Belt, Rebecca Clarke, Jemma Conner, Lucy Keir, Emma Marsh, Charlotte Pape, Olivia Price, Kayleigh Roscoe, Amy Rye, Bryony Scott, Zoe Sturgess, Emma Waters, Mary Wilson. Coach: Nicki Collins. Manager: Adrian Conner.
