Ramsgate continued their remarkable run in cup finals with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win in the Ryman League Cup final.

Several coachloads of fans made the trip from Thanet to the Princes Park Stadium in Dartford for the clash against Division 1 North title-chasers AFC Sudbury on Wednesday night.

After a goalless 90 minutes, during which both sides hit the woodwork, and extra-time, keeper Paul Wilkerson was the hero as he saved the a Sudbury spot-kick to give Stuart Vahid the chance to secure a 5-4 shoot-out win.

Dan Dolton, Ollie and Warren Schulz and Lee Minshull had already converted their attempts.

The win was the ninth cup final win of the 10 appearances in the Rams' history and their eighth in a row.

The only defeat came 40 years ago in the Southern League Cup final.

The last two additions to the Southwood trophy cabinet came in 2005 when the Rams beat Herne Bay in the Kent League Challenge Shield and Margate in the Kent Messenger Challenge Cup.
