Simon Royce has finally put pen to paper on a new one year deal at Gillingham.

The 36-year-old ended the season with an ankle injury, but will now definitely be back for the Gills for the 2008/09 season, after signing the new contract.

Royce signed permanently for Gillingham at the start of the season and made 36 appearances. The keeper made several key saves during those games and fans voted him player of the season.

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson said: "He's going to be a vital player for us next season and one who will help get this club back to where we want to be."
