FOLKESTONE INVICTA play their first match post-James Dryden when they play host to third-placed Staines Town in the Ryman League Premier Division at the Buzzlines Stadium on Saturday.

New striker Walid Matata will make his debut as Invicta look for a repeat of their 2-0 home win over Staines in the FA Cup third qualifying round back in October.

Meanwhile, Dryden will be pitched straight into the Dover Athletic starting line-up for their Ryman League Division 1 trip to Whyteleafe.

Whites boss Clive Walker will be hoping his new striker can provide the fillip that their stuttering promotion campaign needs. Dover have slipped to fifth in the table after taking just two points from their last three games.

Dryden has revealed his desire to play for his hometown club clinched his decision to leave Folkestone and, although he is stepping down a division, he does not see it as a backward step.

He said: "I see Dover as a step forward in my career because the ambition is there to get the club back up to the level they should be at.

"Dover are my hometown club and I always wanted to play for them. I’m now here and want to score loads of goals in what will hopefully be a very successful time for Dover Athletic."

Back in the Ryman League Premier Division, Bromley boss George Wakeling is hoping midfielder Sam Wood will reover from injury in time to face Wealdstone at Hayes Lane.

Wood has not played since suffering a dead leg against Slough on December 3. Skipper Allan McLeod could also return after a shoulder injury.

Margate face a trip to Hendon, who currently sit two places above them in the table.

Tim Thorogood is waiting for fitness checks on son Joff and Denver Birmingham ahead of Ashford Town's Ryman League Division 1 clash at Molesey.

Joff has been out for four months after being injured in the club’s final pre-season friendly, while Birmingham is recovering from an achilles problem which sidelined him for nearly five weeks.

Nathan Thomas is another absentee while Richard Boorman starts a two-match ban as Thorogood hopes for a better performance than last season when Town lost 3-0 there.

Thorogood said: "We had been on a good run, but went there and had a nightmare. We have got to stay strong at one end and make sure we take our chances at the other.

"We are missing too many and I think it’s because players are trying to be too precise in their finishing because they know how important it is for the team."

Tonbridge Angels will be without goalkeeper Jerome John for their home match against Corinthian Casuals after the stopper dislocated his shoulder in the 3-0 victory over Hastings.

Ramsgate entertain Metropolitan Police at Southwood while Cray Wanderers travel to struggling Banstead Athletic.

In Southern League Division 1 East, Sittingbourne will be looking to do the double over bottom club Berkhamsted Town.

Bourne entertained Berkhamsted last week and finally ended a 10-game stretch without victory in the league with a 3-1 win.

They will be looking for another victory on Saturday, but will be without Danny Lawson (ankle), Jon Neale (hamstring and Mark Lovell (knee).

But Lee Hockey returns from a three-match suspension and Joe Dowley and Bradley Spice could be back in the squad after recovering from knocks.

Dartford play their third consecutive home game when Wingate & Finchley are the visitors to Stonebridge Road.

Darts boss Tony Burman has opted for a softly, softly approach as the club continue their pursuit of the league leaders. Almost unnoticed they have moved to within striking distance of the pacesetters following five straight league wins.
