Scally 'not looking for new boss'

SCALLY: "I'm more than happy with Ronnie in the job"

CHAIRMAN Paul Scally has insisted there is no vacancy to fill at Gillingham with Ronnie Jepson installed as manager permanently.

Jepson remains at the club under his original deal which was signed last year.

"Ronnie is the manager," underlined Mr Scally. "I didn’t go looking for anyone. I’ve had loads of people approach me but I’m more than happy with Ronnie in the job."

Former Burnley coach Mick Docherty’s arrival will add experience to the Gills touchline, with Mr Scally predicting a hard slog, although he’s not even considering relegation.

He said: "He’s (Jepson) got someone in to help out and that’s straight forward really. It’s going to be a difficult couple of years but I’m not even going down that road (relegation)."

Meanwhile, another member of the backroom staff has departed Priestfield, with physio Paul Timson leaving the club.
