Sheppey return in positive mood

Sheppey return from the Christmas break with a tough home game against second-placed Old Gravesendians on Saturday.

The OG’s won 31-7 when the two teams met last November but Sheppey head coach Frank Davis was unhappy about the performance of the match referee on the day.

"He was the worst I’ve ever encountered," said Davis. "I feared for the safety of the players and I’m hoping to have a decent referee, and we’ll give them a contest."

Davis wants his players to forget about their current league position and concentrate on winning games.

He said: "We are moving forward and know where we are as a club. We've got to accept the lows before we get the highs.

“I personally feel recharged and looking forward to getting back into it. We’re getting stronger every training session and every month.

“I’m telling them to play with an open mind, to not worry about the league and to express themselves. I’m sure we’re going to shock a few of the big boys."
