GILLINGHAM captain Paul Smith says the players must have the same attitude for the trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday as they did for last weekend’s away game with Bradford City.

Gills defeated out-of-form Bradford 3-1, courtesy of an excellent second half performance, to end a run of six games without a league victory.

But with Wednesday coming into this weekend's game with no wins in their last eight matches, Smith says it is important to keep the pressure on the home team. He said: “The win was long overdue but I’m pleased because we worked tirelessly after going one goal down.

“It adds a little bit more pressure on you when you are playing teams on a bad streak because you are under pressure to win.

“It's happened to teams when they've been playing us in recent weeks because we've been on a poor run, so we need to keep the pressure on Sheffield Wednesday.”

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler looks set to give striker Rod Wallace a rare start at Hillsborough after injuries to Mamady Sidibe and Tommy Johnson.

Sidibe could be out for at least a couple of weeks with a hamstring strain while Johnson is still awaiting results of a scan on his injured foot after two initial X-rays proved inconclusive.
