Star TV role for Shaw?

PAUL SHAW takes his new-found status of Gillingham goalscoring hero to Selhurst Park on Sunday looking to answer the club’s call in their hour of need.

Four-goal Shaw carries the hopes of both team and supporters as injury-stricken Gillingham attempt to make do and mend before Sky Television's cameras.

Suspensions to player-manager Andy Hessenthaler, Mark Saunders and Kevin James have left the Kent club with a sorely reduced squad, already depleted by the absences of long-term injury casualties Simon Osborn, Mamady Sidibe and Mark Patterson.

It left Hessenthaler asking: “Where do I get a team from?” He can seek solace in Shaw, for few things in this season of perpetual team disruption have been as reliable as the former Millwall man.

“Things are going well and I'm feeling confident,” said Shaw. “Whenever I get the ball I feel I'm going to stick it away."
