Middlesbrough 0 – 3 Charlton

AN IMPRESSIVE Charlton side maintained their 100 per cent start to the Premiership season with a superb 3-0 win at Middlesbrough on Sunday.

The visitors took the lead seven minutes before half-time when Danny Murphy beautifully played in Danish winger Dennis Rommedahl who did well to slot a left foot shot past Mark Schwarzer in the Boro goal.

The lead was deservedly doubled in the 81st minute when centre back Chris Perry pulled away from his marker to side foot home a Murphy corner.

And the victory was sealed in stoppage time when Darren Bent, who has scored in every game so far this season, raced clear of Ugo Ehiogu before coolly beating the advancing goalkeeper.

The closest Middlesbrough came was an instinctive shot by James Morrison which brought the best out of Charlton keeper Stephan Andersen.

Charlton: Andersen, Young, Perry, Hreidarsson, Kishishev, Smertin (Hughes 83), Murphy, Rommedahl, Thomas (Bartlett 78), Bent. Subs Not Used: Myhre, Fortune, Spector.

Attendance: 26,206.
