Man arrested after ‘attempted kidnapping’ in Maidstone High Street

A man has been arrested after reports of an attempted kidnapping in a town centre.

At 2.31am on Saturday, July 1, officers received a report that a man had approached a woman in Maidstone High Street and assaulted her before leaving in a car.

Patrols searched the area and later the same day arrested a man in his 30s.

A small amount of cannabis was also found in the car and seized by officers.

The suspect was later bailed with conditions, pending further investigation, until September 29.

The driver of the car was also dealt with for having no insurance or licence.
