Ashley Jackson made it three goals in three World Cup games as England were forced to dig deep to overcome Pakistan 5-2 in Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

Jonty Clarke opened the scoring before West Malling star Jackson (pictured) - a former Sutton Valence School pupil - deflected home a cross from captain Barry Middleton after 32 minutes to put England firmly in control.

Two goals in as many minutes at the start of the second half brought Pakistan level before defender Richard Mantell was stretchered-off with a broken leg and Iain Mackey was sin-binned for an off-the-ball incident.

However Middleton slotted in to put England ahead and Clarke made the game safe eight minutes from time before setting up Middleton's second in the dying seconds.

The win kept England's 100 per cent run going after victories against Australia and South Africa in Pool B, and they can ensure progress to the last four with victory against India on Saturday and Spain on Monday.
