Chance to see police at work - and all for free

MID Kent police are holding an open day this Saturday (September 22) giving visitors the opportunity to tour the police cells at Maidstone Police Station, take part in mock trials and witness displays from armed response officers.

Other highlights will include public order displays, police dogs and crime scene mock-ups.

There will be representatives attending from the force’s partner agencies with the police marine unit, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, the Army and the Air Ambulance.

Doors will be open from from 10am to 4pm. Kent's assistant chief constable David Ainsworth will also attend the event.

The day has been organised by Det Sgt Natalie Potter. She said: “I am confident that this free event will offer fun for the whole family.

"People are naturally curious about what goes on at Maidstone police station and this day is their opportunity to gain an insight into the way we operate and deliver an responsive, effective and professional service to local residents.”

There is no parking at the police station, but the town centre car parks and bus stops are close by.
