A team featuring players drawn from across Kent will provide the opposition for a charity match at Maidstone Rugby Club on Saturday.

The President’s Invitation XV, picked to take on the host club’s first team, will also include players from the armed forces and a couple of Oxford Blues.

The match kicks off at Mote Park at 3pm, with proceeds being donated to the RFU Injured Players Foundation.

The charity gave Maidstone and British Army player, Captain Tom Hughes, much-needed support when he was seriously injured during the first half of last season and just after his return from Afghanistan.

In addition to the match, there will also be a raffle with prizes including a signed shirt from this season’s Super Rugby finalists, the Waikato Chiefs, a signed ball from Amlin Challenge Cup winners Biarritz Olympique, and a signed shirt from Aviva Premiership champions Harlequins.

Entry is by programme and costs £3.
