Drivers' pothole woes

An increasing number of potholes are opening up on our roads.

The recent bout of bad weather took its toll and potholes are appearing at an alarming rate.

KCC has announced a blitz on potholes, with the council leader Cllr Paul Carter (Con) promising an additional £1m to repair the holes between March and May.

It’s good news for motorists, although too late for many who claim their cars have already been damaged by falling into a pothole.

Jane Harris, from Sutton Valence, said she had to write off her Fiat Marea after it was damaged by a pothole in Shenley Road, Headcorn, last August. Five months later, she is still awaiting a response from KCC over whether they will approve her claim for £200 compensation.

KCC says the public can report any potholes 24 hours a day on their hotline 08458 247 800.

But we’d like to hear too. Send us details of your "favourite" pothole and - if it is safe to do so - send us a photograph too. Jpegs (minimum file size 500kb) are best.
