The store, which first opened in 2017, sells a variety of fabric, craft, yarn and haberdashery items.

Hop, Stitch and Jumper has now revealed it will be moving from a small shop within the shopping centre, to a bigger venue that faces the High Street.

It also has a second branch in Tenterden, which launched last year along with two other independent stores.

Run by Symbol Family Support Services, it offers inclusive and innovative opportunities for people with learning disabilities and those on the autism spectrum.

The company allows trainees to develop their work, hobby and craft skills through experience and paid employment.

Florentina Dalton, director of work, learning and leisure at Symbol, said: “Since setting up our first shop in 2017, this new move for The Hop, Stitch and Jumper is an exciting opportunity for us to grow existing connections and build new ones in the local community – which has been so supportive.

“We love being a part of Maidstone's retail scene, and our larger premises will allow us to showcase our beautiful and wide range of fabric, yarns and haberdashery items; whilst providing the opportunity to expand our expert provision for everyday life activities, skills development and training opportunities for people with additional needs.”

The store will be open to the public on Saturday (August 19), from 11am.
