Kentish sparkle added to Vegas party

Bubbly bottles from Marden popped to the tune of a grand piano and a chorus line of show girls this week as British Airways celebrated its new direct route to Las Vegas with the Kent-grown wine.

Herbert Hall Wines joined forces with BA to treat business travellers with a glass of English bubbly.

The airline launched its service - providing cabins with six fully flat beds on its Boeing 777’s - from the new Gatwick North Terminal. It is the second direct route to Las Vegas from the UK with BA, which also runs the daily service from Heathrow.

As customers sipped their Kentish wine in the check-in area, circus performers entertained around them. They then tucked into to four-tier inaugural cake decorated with sugar figurines of Elvis Presley.

Nicholas Hall, of Herbert Hall Wines Ltd said: “I am so pleased BA have chosen our wine for their celebration.

"We strive to make Herbert Hall a truly British product of exceptional quality, so it’s great to fly the flag in this way.”

The 10-acre vineyard in Marden was planted in 2007 and is on a slope outside the village. Its produce is organically grown. The sparkling wine is being stocked by Harrods and sells for around £25 a bottle.
