M20 crash causes long delays

TRAFFIC remained at a standstill this morning after a lorry crashed through the central reservation of the M20 near Maidstone.

Firefighters from Maidstone, Ashford and Lenham were called to the accident about a mile from junction 8 of the motorway shortly after 4.30am.

The crash involved a car and a Royal Mail lorry which smasheed through the central reservation and veered across two carriageways.

Although nobody was hurt, the remains of the collision caused lasting delays for motorists making their way to work.
