Maidstone Ladies suffered a 3-0 defeat at local rivals Holcombe in the East Women’s League Premier Division on Saturday.

The hosts went in front early on and added second and third goals despite a strong performance from Maidstone’s player of the match Kathryn Waldrom.

Newly-promoted Maidstone Ladies 3rds kept their composure in a 3-2 win over Canterbury in Kent League Division 1 on Saturday.

Canterbury took the lead against the run of play through a penalty corner but Nicky Bourne levelled the score before half-time.

Canterbury attacked more in the second half but were repeatedly halted by the solid defending of Hannah Spice and Katie Morgan.

Maidstone went ahead when Giorgia Woods’ fine cross was finished by Julie Davies, and Helen Brown’s excellent run then led to a third goal through Woods.

Canterbury reduced the deficit before Lauren Sutherland saved a penalty corner strike in the dying seconds to secure a much-needed victory for Maidstone.
