Maidstone United chairman Paul Bowden-Brown insists everyone owed money by the club will be paid by the end of the month.

Bad weather and a series of postponed home games hit cashflow in mid-season and forced the club to ask players and staff to defer wages for up to eight weeks.

The players are still waiting for their money a month after the season finished but Mr Bowden-Brow, pictured, insists the wait will be over soon.

He said: "All outstanding parties who are due money from the club will receive money by the end of May, as per the original agreement."

However, it looks unlikely that the club will pay the deferred wages of Jay Saunders and James Pinnock, who left the club amid the cash crisis for Ryman League Premier Divison rivals Margate.

Saunders said: "I spoke to Paul and told him I wanted to know what was happening about my money. I was told they’d send me a letter about the money but I’ve still not had anything.

"When I left they said they thought I’d agreed to let the money go but that was never the case. It’s a fair bit of money and I’m due it."

Mr Bowden-Brown added: "The players that left the club were advised the conditions of the agreement, should they leave before the end of the season.

"Anyone who wants to discuss it further should get hold of me."
