A man who admitted multiple counts of child sex abuse and possessing images has been jailed for three years.
Daniel Hamblin, 25, formerly of Rowan Tree Road, Tunbridge Wells, had pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent images of children; four of possessing indecent images of children; two of taking indecent images of children; four of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one of causing a child to be involved in prostitution or pornography.
Sevenoaks magistrates had sent his case to Maidstone Crown Court where he was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
The court heard how Kent police discovered that Hamblin had been downloading images of child abuse from the internet and conducted a warrant at his home address on Valentine’s Day.
Officers found evidence that not only had he been downloading images from the internet, but that he had also taken photos of a child victim on a mobile phone.
They found 37 still images graded between level one to four and six movies, graded between levels four and five.
Following his arrest, Hamblin admitted that over the past two years he had actively been searching for child abuse imagery whilst using file sharing software.
Investigating officer DC Jo Gordon of the Child Exploitation and Investigation Team, said: “Hamblin preyed on an innocent child and supported his sexual appetites with indecent images from the internet, each of which represents another child being abused.
“I trust this sentence makes it clear that society will not accept the ongoing abuse of children and that Kent Police will do everything it can to track down and bring to justice those that seek to exploit children.”
