After attempting to intervene, members of staff were allegedly threatened at the Sutton Road site and one employee assaulted, before the couple left the premises.

Terri Aldridge, 35, of Perry Street, in the same town, and Colin Wray, 49, of no fixed address, were both later charged with theft.

Aldridge was also charged with assault and a public order offence.

They were both bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on September 25.
