Police and ambulance called to Maidstone prison

Police cars and an ambulance were called to a Kent prison this evening.

The emergency services arrived at HMP Maidstone at about 6pm and drove in through the main entrance.

Maidstone is a category C prison with a capacity of 600 inmates and only houses foreign nationals.

A report in July this year warned that vulnerable inmates at Maidstone prison may be used as guinea pigs to test the effects of drugs.
