Retailers in the Mall Chequers are squealing with excitement over who will win a competition to find the best dressed pig.

Thirty-two shops in the centre off King Street are taking part in the contest which is voted for by the customers on Facebook.

The initiative, which has a prize of £150, has heated up in the last week with shops going all out for their piglet money box.

Staff at New Look have given their oinking friend a glamorous look with false eyelashes, Boots’ entry is good enough to eat with a coat of marshmallows and others have opted for an Olympic theme.

People can vote by searching for The Mall, Maidstone, on Facebook, and ‘liking’ the photo of their favourite. The deadline for voting is 5pm on Saturday.
