Stolen 4x4 used by bag snatchers

A STOLEN car is believed to have been used in two robberies in Kent.

Police are searching for silver Toyota Hilux pick-up, registration number GJ06 ZDH, that was taken during a house burglary at Agate Court, Sittingbourne, between 2am and 4.30am on Tuesday.

A vehicle matching its description is later believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle for two handbag snatches in Maidstone.

The first theft occurred at 7:05am on Wallis Avenue, Parkwood, when a man with a face scarf grabbed a lady’s handbag, got into a 4x4 and drove away. The second incident took place about 15 minutes later on Eyhorne Street, Hollingbourne, when an offender ran past a woman, grabbed her bag and got into a waiting vehicle, again matching the description of the silver pickup. Neither victim was hurt.

The Toyota was last seen heading towards Sittingbourne at 7:30am.

One of the offenders is described as white, young, chubby, around 5ft 7ins tall, and wearing a blue puffa jacket. The other is described as wearing a blue hoody.

Anyone who has either seen the vehicle or has any further information about any of these incidents is asked to contact police in Mid Kent on 01622 604275 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
