He was released by the Stones following National League relegation last season and has now returned to Havant.

“I’m back and have unfinished business,” Deacon told Havant’s website.

“I played with JC (manager Jamie Collins) at Sutton and he was my captain, an unbelievable team-mate.

“I wanted to come here and play with him as my manager and get success.

“This year I really want to stay fit and get that promotion.”

Maidstone and Havant will face each other in National South this season.
