Maidstone United sign Charlie Seaman from Doncaster Rovers following his Bournemouth exit

Doncaster Rovers have loaned out defender Charlie Seaman to Maidstone United immediately after agreeing a permanent deal for the player.

Rovers don’t see the 21-year-old former West Ham and Bournemouth youngster as breaking into their first team straight away so he will head back to the Gallagher for more valuable matchday experience.

The attacking full-back was released by the Cherries at the end of his contract in June and has now agreed a one-year deal at Doncaster.

Last season he played 24 times for National League side Eastleigh before joining the Stones on loan in February. He has previously had spells at Weymouth and Dundee United on loan.

Rovers boss Darren Moore said: “Darren Moore said: “Charlie’s a good player and one that we’ve been looking at for a few weeks. We feel this is exactly the right kind of deal to help him develop into a great player for Doncaster Rovers.

“As there is no under-23s football available at Rovers this season, this is the kind of deal we need to be able to bring in these types of players. It allows him to keep progressing at the rate he is and we can help develop him into a Rovers player.

“For now, his focus has to be picking up first-team experience and taking everything he can from his loan. Then he can start challenging for a starting place.”

Maidstone kick start their season at Hendon in an FA Cup second round qualifier. Their first National South match is against Welling United on Tuesday.
