Ramsgate v Maidstone

Maidstone travel to Ramsgate tonight (Tuesday) in good spirits after their second consecutive win on Saturday.

The Stones visit Southwood and former boss Jim Ward - who led Maidstone to the Kent League and cup double in 2002 - looking to consolidate their place in the top five of the Ryman League, Premier Division.

The Stones raced out of the blocks against Hendon on Saturday, picking up where they left off against Hastings five days previously.

They had scored three goals in the last 12 minutes of the 4-0 win at Hastings and were 2-0 up inside 12 minutes against Hendon at Bourne Park before eventually winning 3-2.

Joint bosses Lloyd Hume and Alan Walker did not want to change a winning side on Saturday and may well opt for the same line-up again.

James Pinnock is likely to start up front after bagging four goals in the two ganes, while Meshach Nugent has impressed in his two starts since recovering from a groin injury.

The Rams picked up their first win of the season on Saturday with a 1-0 victory at bottom side Harrow Borough, but have lost both their home games so far this season.

Former Maidstone striker Mo Takaloo - who scored the goal to keep the Stones in the division last season - has scored all three of the Rams' home league goals this season.

Hume said: “In the past I might have hyped the game up but I will not be hyping it up this time. We have a new team and there is no affiliation with Jim Ward anymore.

“I hope we can perform well but it is important for the players to stay focused.”

Ward admitted to loving the derby games.

He said: "If it doesn't get the players' adrenalin pumping then nothing will.

"Maidstone enjoy a big support away from home and we're expecting somewhere in the region of 500 plus for the match."

Ward will name an unchanged side with weekend match-winner Aaron Firth again starting on the bench.
