Traffic light destroyed in Borough Green crash

A man was taken to hospital after his car ploughed into a traffic light at a busy crossing in Borough Green.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident which happened at about 1.40am on Sunday at the junction with Western Road on the A25 Maidstone Road.

The driver, 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be not life-threatening.

Borough Green Parish Councillor Scott Millener ran out of his office shortly after the crash happened.

He said: "I heard an engine revving, then a screech, a massive bang and loads of moaning. It was quite loud.

"The driver hit the barrier, took out the lights and ended up on the opposite side of the road in someone's front yard.

"The traffic light is completely broken and now pedestrians are left with an unsafe crossing."
